With Mother’s Day fast approaching on Sunday 8th May 2022, you may be planning to do something special for your loved one or, are seeking inspiration on how you can celebrate the important women in your life, be that a Mother, Stepmother, Gran, Sister or Friend.
At Triumph we want to acknowledge all these different and sacred relationships and wish everyone a lovely Mother’s Day this year. Read on for a brief history surrounding Mother’s Day as well as our top five tips to honour all the women close to you and recognise all their achievements.
Mother’s Day attracts 3 million Google searches annually and is recognised each year in Australia on the second Sunday in May. Mother's Day was initially commemorated in Australia in 1910 with special church services, although it was not widely celebrated until the 1920’s.
In Australia, the tradition of giving presents on Mother's Day began in 1924 and has continued to evolve to this day. Whilst you may wish to spoil Mum with traditional gifts to show your love and appreciation, there are other ways in which you could celebrate her.
We have put together some varied suggestions on how to make your mum, and all the wonderful women in your life feel special – let us know how you plan to celebrate!
Why not treat Mother’s Day as an opportunity to take the special women in your life for an outdoors adventure?
See the great outdoors and plan some activities in nature and spend some quality time together. How about a serene walk through a national park or try your hand at a kayak paddle and get out on the water. After your activity you could relax and recharge in nature, visiting a favourite picnic location that is significant to your family with a prepared lunch to enjoy each other’s company.
Celebrate Mother’s Day as a family and unite the generations of great women in your life.
Host a backyard barbeque or meal at home to spend quality time together. Take over the cooking duties and serve up several dishes to cater to all tastes. Relax by the pool after lunch or organise some backyard sports and activities. There is so much fun to be had at home and you will save money in the process.
This is a simple but significant idea. Why not celebrate the women in your life by donating to a charity or cause that they are enthusiastic about or is close to their heart? Better still, come together for a fundraiser.
There are many women-oriented charities that you could donate to, at both a global and local level. If you would prefer to make a difference at a more local level then you could always choose to support with donations of clothes, food, or make-up and things that you have at home which could aid local women's shelters.

The gift of time. Stuck for ideas? Then why not give your mum back some time this Mother’s Day, by letting her have a quiet day around the home to focus on herself and her own wellbeing.
Whether it is providing breakfast in bed, organising a spa day, or simply taking care of some of the daily tasks around the house that your mum usually does. Give the special women in your life that extra break and time to sink into a new book that she is reading, work on her business or indulge in some of her hobbies. She will thank you for this one!
