Thought about summer activities yet? Try these fun things to do this summer
It’s finally getting warmer and the summer holidays are rapidly approaching. Maybe a little too rapidly for some. That’s why we’ve put together this cheat-sheet of summer activities to share with loved ones – along with some all-important ‘me-time’ suggestions. With a little planning, you can have your hard earned Christmas/New Year holidays nailed. Check out these fun things to do this summer with family and friends.
Fun things to do - in the sun and water
- Pristine swimming holes
Keeping your cool by plunging into a crystal clear rock pool can certainly cleanse the soul. Why not grab some of your favourite friends and head to the coast or mountains for a fresh dip into nature. Any National Parks website can give you the intel you need for that ‘not so common’ experience. Just remember to dress for the walk in and out. Hint: The Sloggi Zero Feel Bra Top is cool, fast drying and will support you all the way – even in the water if you want.
- Lonely beaches
It doesn’t matter which state you’re in, some of the best beaches can be the most secluded ones. Check out We Are Explorers for hidden gems that can quickly become favourites. But always remember to be aware of rips and swim between the flags for safety-sake.
- Snorkelling
While we’re talking beaches, you may also want to pack your face mask and fins to take a look at the wonders below. If you choose to snorkel, it’s best to do it in calm coves and near rock features - but not too shallow to do yourself some damage.
- Boating
If you’d prefer to be above the water how about hiring a boat? Kayaks, sailing boats and even cruisers can be hired and are the perfect summer activity to enjoy with family and friends. But remember to dress comfortably and ready for action. To find boat hire near you, let Google be your guide.
- Get some laps in
Whether you’re a sea pool kinda girl or prefer dedicated lanes, summer holidays offer a great opportunity to get a solid cardio workout while strengthening every muscle in your body. It’s also extremely refreshing.
- Canyoneering
Looking for something slightly more adventurous? Abseiling an icy cold waterfall into a deep pristine canyon will cool you down and get your heart pumping. Talk to your local adventure tour guides to see what they offer in way of summer activities. Our advice: wear a comfortable bra and underwear that dries quickly on the walk out. Sloggi’s Zero Feel or Go Allround range in solid colours are ideal for wearing under a wetsuit.
- Pool parties
Nothing says summer more than entertaining around a pool. So get your warm weather feels on and dress up in your favourite relaxed party attire. Inspiration: From bra-tops to our Body Adapt range, you’ll be feeling free, comfortable and confident.
Put some life in your nights
- Theatres, restaurants and roof top bars
After years of COVID-19 restrictions, who doesn’t look forward to dressing up a bit and enjoying the entertaining side of town? However, if you’re like most of us, you may find that some clothes don’t quite fit as well as they used to. When it comes to undergarments, we can help you understand which bras and underwear would best enhance the changes that have occurred over the past few years. After all, embracing change is empowering as well.
- Open air cinemas
Watching flicks in the confinement of your loungeroom is sooo last year. Why not grab a picnic blanket, some nibbles and drinks to watch an all-time favourite with friends under the stars? Keep an eye on social media, local council websites and entertainment guides for what’s on.
- A romantic picnic by the water
Have you ever shared a night picnic with someone special in your life? It’s a great way to relax, engage in deep conversations and snuggle up. We recommend planning a charcuterie plate, packing a nice soft camp light and choosing clothing that allows you to move without restriction.
- BBQs with friends
This would have to be the most iconic, fun thing to do with family and friends in summer. And for good reason – BBQs are relaxed, delicious and easy to arrange. Even easier if everyone brings a plate to contribute.
- NYE Fireworks
What a great reason to go out for a meal with friends and then find a grassy area to sit and watch this spectacular light show. Don’t forget to have your list of resolutions ready to impress people with. (Naturally this can be reviewed after a couple of months – just don’t tell anyone.)
Out in the wilds
- Glamping
Escaping the crowds can be done in comfort and style. If you love the great outdoors, but not boot-camps, try Googling Glamping Near Me. You’d be amazed at the secluded get aways that look after all your creature comforts. Just don’t forget to pack a supportive fitness bra that breaths well.
- Picnics in the gardens
No water to be found near you? There’s bound to be a park or botanic garden nearby to have a picnic in. This can be a fun summer activity for the kids as well – and a great way of wearing them out with a Frisby or ball games.
- Day hikes
All National Parks websites offer an impressive range of spectacular walks nearby. Most walks will be graded, so you can choose the level of fitness and distance needed. So grab plenty of water, snacks, sunscreen, supportive shoes, cool protective clothing and go forth to explore.
- Cycleway sightseeing
Have a bike? Time to travel. Whether you’re playing tourist in a new town or being a tourist at home, using the local cycleway network is a great way of discovering hidden shops, markets, cafes, historic areas and parks. It’s also an ideal summer activity to share with friends to keep fit.
- Take the kids to the zoo
If the kids are going wild introduce them to some animals. Zoos are great for keeping kids amused and sparking their curiosity. Some zoos even offer Zoo Stays and NYE events.
- Meetup groups
Meetup groups have become extremely popular recently. They’re a great way to share common interests, meet new friends and try new activities without pressure. Meetup days usually don’t cost a lot either – if anything at all. Check out a summer activity near you.
